Workshop on Safe Mine Backfill Practices

Timmins, May 4-5, 2011
The purpose of this workshop is to present an overview of safe backfilling practices at mining operations, based on a study conducted by Queen’s University and Workplace Safety North. The program will include a site visit of the state-of-the-art paste backfill system at Kidd Mine, Xstrata Copper, Timmins.The target audience includes mine personnel, especially engineers, technicians and operators involved in backfilling operations. The presenters will be Dr. James F. Archibald and Dr. Euler De Souza, The Robert M. Buchan Department of Mining, Queen’s University, Kingston.
