Self-Respect: The Foundation of Leadership

Speaker Drew Dudley

Presenter: Drew Dudley
Author and leadership expert

In 2010, Drew was fresh off delivering what would be voted one of the “15 most inspirational TED talks of all time,” and travelling the world delivering keynotes that led one Oxford University professor to proclaim him, “the most motivating and inspiring speaker on leadership out there right now.” While his professional career was empowering others to embrace their leadership, offstage Drew was struggling with alcohol addiction, undiagnosed bipolar disorder, and a lifestyle that had ballooned his weight to more than 300 pounds. In this keynote, Drew melds his own story with self-care insights from all over the world and presents six strategies for embedding self-care and self-respect into your personal leadership philosophy. Over the past eight years, these strategies helped him achieve and maintain sobriety, lose 100 pounds, manage his mental health, and most recently, process a profound personal tragedy.

Presentation highlights

  • Learn how every personal and professional decision can be assessed for its impact on self-respect
  • Use six specific strategies to help integrate self-care into your personal leadership
  • Helpful tips for more effectively preparing for – and dealing with – failure
  • Develop daily habits that can provide boosts of energy on difficult days
  • Understand the importance of healing and forgiveness in leadership
Early Bird! The first 125 participants will receive free access to Day One Direct ($199 US value) – Drew’s online leadership development program, which provides interactive learning modules accessible on any device. The program helps you learn how to identify your core leadership values and embed them into your daily behaviour; behavioural changes most directly linked to increased commitment, pride, productivity, and happiness; as well as insight into leadership values linked to performance and impact.

The presentation acknowledges the dark parts of life and work with humour and compassion. This practical exploration of self-awareness, forgiveness, resilience, and healing will remind you that we cannot lead others until we can lead ourselves and show you how great leaders know how to put themselves first while still serving others. Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET
