Fatal Mining Incident at Timmins Mine

WSN regrets to inform its clients that a miner was fatally injured on Monday, April 2nd while working underground at Lake Shore Gold mine in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Services news release states the employee was working at the 730 foot level of the mine at the time of the incident.

A Lake Shore Gold press release states that the deceased was part of a crew working in a development heading underground at the mine. The immediate family has been notified; however the name of the individual is being withheld pending the completion of the notification process.

The scene has been secured, and the incident is under investigation by the Ministry of Labour, the Timmins police service and Lake Shore Gold Management and Health and Safety committee.
