MOL launches new mining mobile equipment video

Monday, May 27, 2013

The Ministry of Labour’s new video features Inspector Patrick Vaillancourt as he takes viewers through what a site inspection of mobile equipment at an underground mine looks like.

Taking place at Xstrata Copper’s Kidd Creek mine in Timmins, Ontario, Vaillancourt heads underground with the mine’s Mucking Superintendent and a Worker Representative.

As Vaillancourt proceeds with the visit, some of the things he stops to speak with workers about are:

• Have workers received their common core safety training?
• Are workers wearing their personal protective equipment?
• Has a pre-start and post-start inspection been completed for mobile equipment in use?
• Has the equipment been maintained to Ontario standards?

Vaillancourt also reviews the training records and diesel emissions testing results.
