Two new staff, retirement at Ontario Mine Rescue
Welcome Mike Krell and Dan Rulli
Mike Krell joins Ontario Mine Rescue (OMR), a part of Workplace Safety North (WSN), from Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd Eagle River Mine outside of Wawa. He received his introductory mine rescue training in 2009 while at Wesdome, and since then, has served as an active mine rescue volunteer in the Thunder Bay-Algoma District.
Krell holds both Technician and Advanced Mine Rescue certifications, and received his certification as a firefighter from Lambton College in 2000. A resident of Wawa, Mike served as a member of the Wawa volunteer fire department, in addition to his duties as captain of the Wesdome Eagle River Mine Rescue Team. Krell is based at the Algoma Mine Rescue Station in the Thunder Bay-Algoma District.
Dan Rulli joins OMR from the Canadian Gypsum Corporation Hagersville Mine (CGC Inc. a part of USG). He received his introductory mine rescue training in 2004 while at CGC, and has served as an active mine rescue volunteer in the Southern District since. Rulli is based at the Delaware Mine Rescue Station in Southern District.
Rulli holds both Technician and Advanced Mine Rescue certifications, and most recently won the 2015 Ontario Mine Rescue Provincial Technician Competition in Thunder Bay. A resident of southern Ontario, Rulli brings extensive experience in soft rock mining operations unique to that corner of the province.
Thank you Bruce Hall
Bruce Hall was a Mine Rescue Officer and Consultant at OMR from 1989 to 2015. Bruce started his mining career in 1978 at Lac Minerals’ Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake. A year later, he joined OMR as a volunteer and competed in district and provincial competitions. Bruce was vice-captain of the 1986 provincial champion team from Macassa. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Kirkland Lake. For his entire career, Bruce was based in the Sudbury District and trained volunteers at Inco, now Vale. Bruce and his wife, who have a grown son and daughter, plan to spend summers on Manitoulin Island, and winters in the Phoenix area. Thank you, Bruce, for your years of service and best wishes for your retirement.
