Update: The Ministry of Labour's Ground Control Blitz has been extended to finish on November 30, 2013. The blitz was originally scheduled to end on October 31, 2013.
This October, the Ministry of Labour’s mining inspectors and engineers will be visiting Ontario’s underground mining operations as part of the province’s latest inspection blitz.
The blitz will focus on Ground Control programs at mining operations. Inspectors will be looking at Regulation 854, Mines and Mining Plants, specifically:
• Section 6: Mine Design
• Section 6.1: Unsupported Underground Openings
• Section 19: Boundary Pillars
• Section 65: Communication Programs
• Section 67: Procedures for Ground Control
• Section 72: Rockburst Record
• Section 73: Ground Support Quality Control
