Wellness in a multigenerational workplace

Jim Lees, Intergenerational Wellness Specialist

Multigenerational workforces are a fact of life, and it is common to experience the impact of four different generations in a workday. Building an environment that promotes higher engagement and mental health and wellness involves understanding how each generation differs from each other in terms of values, attitudes towards work, and expectations of an employer. Although workers from each generation are more alike than different, intergenerational conflict can have disproportionate impact, creating a stressful environment that mitigates against teamwork, lowers job satisfaction, and is an obstacle to leveraging strengths across generations. In the session, you will learn key differences in work styles, foundational to negotiating respectful work relationships and building a more supportive work culture.
