As the philosophy behind the occupational health and safety act and a framework for due diligence, the Internal Responsibility System allocates responsibility, authority and accountability for occupational health and safety across an organization. The IRS is often misunderstood in organizations and in the occupational health and safety field. This one day workshop is designed to provide an in-depth review of the Internal Responsibility System, dispel myths concerning IRS and describe what a well-functioning IRS looks like. A PowerPoint that participants can use in educating their individual workplaces on IRS, along with an IRS survey will also be provided as part of this workshop. This one day program will be led by Dr. Peter Strahlendorf, associate professor at Ryerson University, School of Occupational and Public Health.
