The purpose of this two-day workshop is to:
- Familiarize managers and supervisors with the use of common risk assessment tools and how they fit together with your overall site risk management strategy, and
- Initiate a change in operational risk management
The learning outcomes are:
- Understanding of the context of risk assessment for mining operations
- Understanding of the application of various risk assessment tools used in mining
- Using process mapping for risk management applications
- Differentiating between a material unwanted event (MUE) and a high consequence event (HCE)
- Education on the use of the Workplace Risk Assessment and Control (WRAC) tool
- Hands on experience with use of the WRAC tool
- Introduction to the Bow Tie Analysis (BTA) tool
- Introduction to post-WRAC action planning
Workshop Structure
Day 1 (8 hours)
- Education on the applicable tools and how they are applied
- Undertaking risk assessments on topics chosen by the participants
Day 2 (8 hours)
- Participants will take turns leading the team through risk assessments (hands on practice), with coaching provided
