This course is intended for Mechanical Harvesting Equipment Operators (MHEO)/Forestry Pit and Road Construction Equipment Operators (FPRCEO) who wish to become Approved Evaluators, as per the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) guidelines.
This program ensures that Approved Evaluators understand their role to certify competent operators; are familiar with the MLITSD certification process; Can apply MHEO/FPRCEO program requirements to new operators; and understand relevant forestry machine operator legislation and its application.
Successful completion of the training course will provide Approved Evaluators with the following:

Unit 1 – Introduction: Review and explain the training materials; course objectives; an explanation of the common core modules; approved evaluator expectation; and an explanation of the MHEO/FPRCEO training programs and certification for those programs.
- Unit 2 – Logging Injuries/Fatalities: Review potential hazards, logging injuries and fatalities, and apply how those incidents can be useful during the evaluations and discussions with workers.
- Unit 3 – Mandatory Operation Certification Legislation: Review of the relevant legislation regarding logging legislation (Industrial Reg. 851), aggregate legislation (Mines and Mining Plants Reg. 854),exceptions to these legislations.
- Unit 4 – MLISTD Operator Certification Process: Review of the steps for the MLITSD Mandatory Operator Certification; the times associated with the certification process; the common core classroom training modules; MHEO/FPRCEO operator responsibilities; the MHEO/FPRCEO Approved Evaluators Responsibilities; and documentation.
- Unit 5 – The Evaluation Process: Review of scheduling a worker on-site evaluation with an employer; preparing to conduct the evaluation; conducting the evaluation; the MLITSD Modular Training Booklet performance objectives; completing the modular training standards booklet; and best practices.
- Unit 6 – Completion of Approved Evaluator Training and Ongoing Maintenance: Review of MHEO Trainer/Evaluator protocol;, and approved evaluator status.
- Unit 7 – Knowledge Evaluation: Ensure knowledge understanding of course content.
Prerequisites:
- Demonstrated Knowledge and experience in related mechanical harvesting operations
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in related mechanical harvesting operations
- Successful completion of an MLITSD approved MHEO/FPRCEO Common Core Classroom training program

Please ensure that you bring one of the following accepted identification credentials with you: Canadian or foreign passport; Canadian citizenship card; Immigration and Refugee Report; Enhanced driver’s licence issued by Ontario; or Ontario Health Insurance Card.
Note: Failing to provide the proper credentials will result in a non-completion of the training program and no record of training will be issued.
