Train-the-trainer: Mechanical Harvesting/Forestry Pit & Road Construction Equipment Operator

This course is intended for mechanical harvesting forestry or pit or road construction equipment operators who wish to become Mechanical Harvesting Forestry Pit and Road Construction Equipment Operator Approved Trainers.
 
This program ensures trainers approved to deliver the Ministry's 'Mechanical Harvesting Forestry Pit & Road Construction Equipment Operator Safety Training Common Core Training Module' and the 'Machine-Specific Evaluation for Certification' have an understanding of the legislated program requirements and are familiar with the Ministry certification.

Successful completion of the training course will provide Approved Trainers with the following:

  • Part One - Review and explain the training materials, learning objectives, and delivery methods associated with the Mechanical Harvesting Forestry Pit &Road Construction Equipment Operator Safety Training Common Core;
  • Part Two - Review and clarify revised Regulations as they apply to operators of designated mechanical harvesting forestry pit & road construction equipment, their supervisors and employers;
  • Part Three - Review and explain the Ministry’s Modular Training documentation, training and evaluation procedure for certification, as well as the responsibilities and requirements for operators, supervisors, employers and approved trainers;
  • Part Four - Review the Ministry’s Machine-Specific On-site Orientation packages and the Ministry’s mechanical harvesting forestry pit & road construction equipment operator safety training modular training standards, including the roles and responsibilities of operators, supervisors, employers and approved trainers;
  • Part Five - Review the methods and requirements for Machine-Specific Operator Evaluations for Certification including roles and responsibilities of supervisors, employers and approved trainers;
  • Part Six - Review the Surface Miner Regulations, their application and the requirement for supervisor’s evaluation in mechanical harvesting/forestry pit & road construction operations;
  • Part Seven - Conduct unit presentation exercise and assessment;
  • Part Eight - Detailed review of key course material; and
  • Part Nine - Review and explain the training materials, learning objectives and delivery methods associated with the Principles of Rigging, Hoisting and Towing on Logging Operations component.
Note: Following completion of this Train-the-Trainer course, trainers must first deliver at least one scheduled training of the Mechanical Harvesting Forestry Pit and Road Construction Equipment Operator Safety Training Common Core while being supervised by a WSN Consultant Trainer.

  1. Mechanical Harvesting Forestry Pit & Road Construction Equipment Operator Safety Training Common Core;
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in related mechanical harvesting equipment/forestry pit and road construction equipment; and
  3. WSN's Train-the-Trainer: Generic
