Sia Taghipoor, Ph.D P.Eng, has been Ground Control Supervisor at KGHM International in Sudbury, ON since 2014. He has 18 years of experience in underground mining operations. His experience and interests include advanced numerical modeling, hydraulic fracturing, rock characterization, constitutive model calibration and instrumentation and monitoring.

He holds a MSc. in Mining Rock Mechanics from Tehran Polytechnics in Iran and a PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. His PhD research was in the area of numerical modeling of hydraulic fracturing.
