Principles of Traffic Protection

This one-day course addresses legislated requirements for traffic protection programs (as per Regulation 213: Construction Projects), and it provides participants with insight into and practice with consulting Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7: Temporary Conditions for information on traffic layouts, control strategies, and other important considerations for effective traffic control. The course will be delivered through various learning activities including lecture, discussion, case study exercises, videos, and other interactive components.

By the end of this course, participants will know:

  • reasons to design and implement effective traffic protection mechanisms
  • legislation pertaining to traffic protection and control
  • hazards affecting road workers
  • temporary work zone design
  • traffic control methods
