Supporting Ontario firms toward safer workplaces
Health and safety regulations are more than just legal requirements. They are vital toward maintaining incident-free workplaces. Compliance protects businesses from costly fines and legal action, but more importantly, it safeguards a company’s most valuable assets: its employees.
To assist Ontario businesses with maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, Workplace Safety North (WSN) has launched a workplace compliance assessment tool addressing eight areas of focus. By downloading and filling out the assessment – either electronically or on paper – someone can measure the effectiveness of practices related to:
- Management responsibility and commitment
- Worker health and safety representatives
- Training programs
- Workplace inspections
- Safe work practices and standard operating procedures
- Injury and incident investigations
- Emergency response plans
- Health and safety initiatives
Each area aligns with legislative requirements found in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations, as well as with Regulation 1101: First Aid Requirements under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
WSN also offers specialized consulting services to support Ontario employers toward legislative compliance and health and safety best practices.
