Garry Bennett is a Superintendent of Health, Safety and Training with 25 years of underground mining experience. He has been in his current superintendent role for over one year and has held operations leadership roles since 2006. Throughout his career, Garry has focused on improving safety performance, emergency preparedness, leadership effectiveness, and leading the development and implementation of health and safety management systems, standardized training programs, and leadership initiatives that have strengthened regulatory compliance, reduced incident rates, and improved workforce engagement.
Garry brings 13 years of active service with Ontario Mine Rescue, where he has demonstrated a strong commitment to emergency response readiness and team performance. As a two-time Ontario Mine Rescue Provincial Champion, Garry has firsthand experience operating under extreme pressure, leading teams in high-risk environments, and maintaining peak performance through disciplined training and continuous improvement. These experiences strongly influence his practical, field-based approach to safety leadership.
Garry is a strong advocate of Coaching for Performance and works closely with supervisors and senior leaders to enhance frontline presence, accountability, and the quality of safety conversations. Known for his relatable, real-world delivery style, Garry translates lessons learned from underground operations and emergency response into actionable insights. Garry is passionate about building resilient safety cultures where leaders coach with intent, workers feel empowered to speak up, and safety excellence is sustained every day.
