This e-learning course is a hazard-focused module (to be taken after the Industrial Hygiene Fundamentals e-learning course) through which trainees learn about the impacts of diesel particulate matter (DPM) contributing to occupational illnesses for Ontario’s workforce. In this course, participants learn about:
- The composition of DPM
- Health effects associated with exposure
- Occupational exposure limit levels and recognized hygiene standards related to DPM
- Occupational exposure monitoring practices for this hazard
- Approaches toward hazard management using the recognize, assess, control, and evaluate (RACE) principle
Intended Audience
This course is designed for individuals who will support industrial hygiene monitoring practices in their workplaces by familiarizing themselves with DPM hazards present in their operations and assist with ongoing monitoring of these agents.
While participants in the Occupational Illness and Disease Prevention Research Project are to take this module (if applicable to their workplace) and the IH Fundamentals e-learning course before attending a follow-up Applied Industrial Hygiene Fundamentals Workshop, this e-learning module is free for anyone looking to enhance personal awareness of the effects of DPM at their own workplace.
