JHSC Certification Training Part 2: Pulp and Paper

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, at least one worker member and one management member of the joint health and safety committee (JHSC) are required to be certified. Certification is divided between generic training (Part 1) and sector-specific training (Part 2), which must be taken within twelve months of each other.

This 2.5-day sector-specific training course is designed to provide participants with the information and tools they need as JHSC members to recognize, assess and recommend controls for the hazards that are commonly found in pulp and paper workplaces. This includes understanding how to identify the relevant legislation, as well as standards, guidelines and best practices as they apply to the hazards in question.

Course topics include:

  • MSD prevention
  • Chemical hazards
