John Ryan is the Mine Manager at Garson Mine in Sudbury. John, a second-generation Vale employee of 23 years, started his career at Vale in May 2001 as an EIT (Engineer-in-Training) and has since held a number of technical and operational positions within the company, including Mine Manager at Creighton Mine, Principal Mine Engineer FEL Studies and Manager, Mines Technical Service Ontario Division.

John, a registered mining professional engineer, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University, a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from Laurentian University.

A proud father of three children and an avid outdoorsman, John enjoys spending his free time fishing the French River and Manitoulin Island, and is passionate about advocating for safety and building the future of Sudbury.
