Planned Inspection & Observation: Mining

This course will familiarize participants with the workplace inspection process and provide them with the skills and knowledge required to conduct planned workplace inspections. The purpose of job/task observations is clarified and practical approaches to accomplishing both planned and informal job observations are addressed. This course will provide participants with the skills and tools to effectively complete these procedures in a mining industry related application.

The course meets the knowledge requirements for a portion of the module Follow Safety Program of the Common Core for First Line Supervisors (including Program #770121, #770131 and #770141).

To become fully accredited under the supervisory common core programs, participants must return to their workplace and demonstrate to a qualified trainer their skills and their understanding of the company's specific requirements according to government legislation, company standards and manufacturer specifications for planned inspections and observations.

Participants are to bring:

  • their own PPE (safety glasses, boots, hard hat, reflective vest and gloves);
  • a copy of their company’s policy/procedure for planned workplace inspections and job observations.

Prerequisites:

To ensure success in this module, all participants should have taken WSN's Act & Mining Regulations and Introduction to Mining Safety Programs courses.

Intended Audience:

This course is intended for supervisors from all mining sectors JHSC members, health & safety personnel.
