This e-learning course is designed to address the requirements laid out in the Surface Miner Common Core (Program #770010) Modular Training Standard for the U5031: Perform General Lockout and Tag on Prime Movers and Other Related Equipment module.
Topics addressed in this course include:
- Inspecting the workplace for hazardous conditions
- Identifying prime movers and other equipment to be locked out and tagged for repair, maintenance, inspection, or cleaning
- De-energizing systems and other equipment to ensure a zero-energy state
- Locking out and tagging prime movers and other related equipment
- Verifying zero-energy states to prevent unexpected movement
- Removing locks and tags
- Energizing prime movers and other related equipment
To become fully accredited under the Surface Miner Common Core program, participants must return to their workplace and demonstrate their skills to a qualified trainer to get signed off on this common core module.

This course is intended for workers in surface mining operations who are looking to complete Modular Common Core training.
